FAQ

Frequently asked

How much does Mac repair cost?
Batteries start from RM280, screens from RM450, keyboards from RM350, logic board repair from RM500 and SSD upgrades from RM400. Diagnosis is free and you get a fixed quote before we start. See the price guide.
What if my Mac cannot be fixed?
You pay nothing for the diagnosis. We explain what failed and offer data recovery or a trade-in option instead.
Does a MacBook Pro repair cost more than a MacBook Air?
Often, yes — Pro displays, batteries and boards are bigger and more complex to source and fit than an Air's. We confirm your exact model before quoting, so screen and battery prices are never guessed.
Will you tell me the price before you start working?
Always. You get one fixed price after the free diagnosis, and we don't touch the Mac until you've agreed to it. See the full price guide for starting prices by repair.
Is there any charge just to look at my Mac?
No. The diagnosis itself is free whether or not you go ahead with the repair, and there's no callout or inspection fee added to the quote afterwards.
How long does a typical MacBook repair take?
Most are same day: batteries in 30 to 60 minutes, screens and keyboards in 1 to 3 hours. Board-level and liquid damage repairs usually need 1 to 3 days on the bench.
Can I wait at the shop while it's repaired?
For quick jobs like a battery or SSD upgrade, yes — most are done within an hour or two. For board or liquid damage work we'll message you on WhatsApp once it's ready.
Why do some repairs take days instead of hours?
Logic board repair and liquid damage need component-level work under a microscope, plus time for parts and testing, so we quote 1 to 3 days rather than promise same day.
Do you give a time estimate before starting?
Yes, alongside the fixed price. We tell you both after the free diagnosis, so you know roughly when to come back before you agree to anything, rather than being left guessing.
What warranty do you give?
Up to 18 months depending on the repair: 6 to 12 months on batteries, screens and keyboards, 3 to 6 months on logic board repair, 12 to 18 months on SSD and RAM upgrades. If the same fault returns inside the warranty, we fix it free.
What exactly does the warranty cover?
The part we fitted and our workmanship on that job. If the same fault comes back within the warranty period, we repair it again at no charge. See our warranty page for the full breakdown.
Do I need a receipt to claim warranty?
It helps us find your repair faster, but we also keep our own records by name and Mac model, so a lost receipt won't stop a valid warranty claim.
Does the warranty cover a new drop or spill?
No — it covers the fault we fixed, not new damage after the repair. A fresh drop or spill needs its own diagnosis, priced separately.
Are you an Apple Authorised Service Provider?
We are an Apple Certified Independent Repair Provider (IRP). Apple has vetted the workshop and trained the technicians, and we work to Apple repair procedures with genuine and original-grade parts. Unlike an Authorised Service Provider we also do component-level board repair and usually quote lower.
What does "Apple Certified Independent Repair Provider" actually mean?
Apple has certified the workshop and trained our technicians on its repair procedures and diagnostics. Read more on our about page about how that differs from an Authorised Service Provider.
Do you use genuine Apple parts?
Genuine parts are used where available; original-grade parts that meet the same specification fill in where they're not. We tell you which applies to your model before you approve the quote.
Can you repair a Mac Apple has stopped supporting?
Often, yes. Component-level board repair means we can still fix many older Macs that Apple no longer services, as long as the fault itself is repairable.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We never open your files, photos or accounts, and we follow PDPA rules. If the Mac still boots, make a Time Machine or iCloud backup before you come; we can also back it up for you before a risky repair.
Should I back up before bringing my Mac in?
If it still boots, yes — a Time Machine or iCloud backup first is safest. If it won't boot, talk to us about data recovery before anything else is done.
Will you need my Apple ID password?
Sometimes, for Apple Silicon Macs to complete certain repairs. You enter it yourself at the counter; we never ask you to write it down or hand it over.
Do you look through my files during a repair?
No. Our technicians test the hardware and the operating system, not your personal files, photos or accounts, and everything we do with customer information follows PDPA privacy rules.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in during opening hours and we diagnose it at the counter. For logic board or liquid damage jobs a WhatsApp message beforehand helps us prepare, but it is not required.
Can I watch my Mac being repaired?
Yes. Repairs happen at our service counter in front of you. No back room, no black box.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Thursday 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Friday 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:00 to 7:30 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM, closed Sunday. Full details on our contact page.
Where exactly are you located?
6-1, Jalan Dagang 1/1A, Taman Dagang, Ampang — see MacBook repair in Ampang for driving directions, nearby parking and landmarks around the shop.
What Mac devices do you repair?
Every Mac: MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (Intel and Apple Silicon M1 to M4), MacBook 12", iMac 21.5", 24" and 27", Mac mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro. If it runs macOS, bring it in.
Do you repair older Intel Macs, not just Apple Silicon?
Yes. Older Intel MacBooks, iMacs, Mac minis and Mac Pros are all repaired here, alongside the newer Apple Silicon M-series Macs, so an ageing Mac isn't automatically turned away.
Do you repair iPhones or iPads as well?
Mac repair is what this website covers, but iPRO Ampang's sister counter at the same address also repairs iPhones, iPads and Android phones and tablets.
